What Happened to the Fly Jinnah Flight?
Operated by the private airline Fly Jinnah, Flight FL-842 was making its approach to Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport when it encountered unexpectedly strong crosswinds and a severe sandstorm. The storm created extreme turbulence, dramatically reducing visibility and making landing impossible.
According to reports, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) instructed the pilot to abort the landing. The flight was then forced to turn around and head back to Karachi to ensure passenger safety.

One passenger described the experience to Gulf News:
“The landing seemed routine at first. But as soon as the wheels touched the ground, a powerful sandstorm engulfed the plane. Within seconds, we were airborne again. The next 10 to 12 minutes were some of the scariest of my life. The plane was being thrown around violently, visibility was zero, and it felt like we were caught in a cyclone.”

Just days before, an IndiGo flight traveling from Delhi to Srinagar also faced severe turbulence caused by a violent storm and hail near Pathankot. The situation was so critical that the Indian Air Force had to assist in ensuring the plane’s safe landing.
